AI Tip Of The Day: Why Context Matters When Using AI
AI Tip Of The Day: Include Context Instead of Assuming the AI Knows Your Situation
Today’s AI tip: The quality of your AI results depends heavily on the context you provide.
AI tools do not automatically know your background, your goals, your audience, your constraints, or the details behind your request. When you leave out important information, the AI has to make assumptions — and those assumptions may not match what you actually need.
Why context matters
Think of AI as a helpful assistant that needs a clear brief. The more relevant information you provide, the more useful and accurate the response is likely to be.
Instead of asking:
“Write me a marketing email.”
Try adding context:
“Write a friendly marketing email for existing customers who have not purchased in six months. The goal is to encourage repeat purchases. Keep the tone professional but approachable and make it under 150 words.”
The second request gives the AI information about the audience, purpose, tone, and limitations — allowing it to create something much closer to what you need.
What context should you include?
- Your goal: What outcome are you trying to achieve?
- Your audience: Who is the content or answer for?
- Your situation: What background information does the AI need?
- Your preferences: What tone, format, or style do you want?
- Your limitations: Are there word counts, deadlines, rules, or requirements?
A simple prompt formula
Try this structure:
“I need help with [task]. The situation is [context]. The audience is [audience]. My goal is [goal]. Please provide [desired output].”
Small changes to the way you communicate with AI can make a big difference. Providing context helps the AI understand your needs and produce answers that are more relevant, practical, and useful.
AI Tip Of The Day: Don’t just ask the AI what to do — tell it what it needs to know.
